Terms of Service

Parqlab is a desktop application for exploring, querying and exporting Apache Parquet files and cloud data lakes. It runs locally on your machine (macOS, Windows, Linux).

The free trial is fully functional with the following limits: data previews are capped at 100 rows per file and exports, file comparison and merge/split tools are disabled. A paid license removes these limits.

Purchasing “Parqlab Personal Lifetime” ($59, one-time) grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Parqlab on up to 3 devices that you own or control, for any lawful purpose, forever.

• “Lifetime” means the license never expires and includes all updates to the 1.x version line.
• Future major versions (e.g. 2.0) may be offered as a separate, optional paid upgrade; your 1.x license keeps working regardless.
• You may move the license between machines at any time by deactivating a device in the app (Settings → License).
• The license is for one person. Team or company-wide use requires one license per user.

• Share, resell, sublicense or publish your license key.
• Circumvent, remove or tamper with the license mechanism.
• Reverse engineer the software except where such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
• Use Parqlab to violate any applicable law.

We may revoke licenses obtained fraudulently (e.g. stolen cards, chargebacks after prolonged use, key resale). Where reasonably possible we will contact you first.

Activation requires a one-time connection to our license server. The app then revalidates in the background roughly every 24 hours and keeps working fully offline for 14 days between validations.

We aim to keep the license server highly available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. If we ever discontinue the license service, we commit to shipping a final update that removes the online validation requirement for paid licenses.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Prices are in USD; local taxes may be added at checkout depending on your country.

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy (see /refunds): 14 days, no questions asked.

Parqlab is local-first: your data files are processed on your machine and are never transmitted to us. Cloud storage connections you configure go directly from your machine to your cloud provider. See the Privacy Policy for the short list of what we do process (essentially: your email and license activity).

Parqlab is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the software or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your license. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including data loss — please keep backups of important data.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including your statutory consumer rights.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated date. Changes never reduce the scope of a license you already purchased.
